The number of wage earners in Türkiye increased by 2.4% in April

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the statistics of wage earners for April 2024. According to the data, the number of wage earners in industry, construction and trade-services sectors increased by 2.4% in April compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 15 million 658 thousand 462 people.

The number of wage earners in Türkiye increased by 2.4% in April

The number of wage earners, which was recorded as 15 million 289 thousand 223 in the same month of last year, increased by 369 thousand 239 persons this year.

On a sectoral basis, while the number of wage earners in the industrial sector decreased by 1.3% y/y, it increased by 7.3% in the construction sector and by 3.6% in the trade-services sector.

On a monthly basis, the total number of wage earners increased by 0.7% compared to the previous month. In this period, there was an increase of 0.4% in the industrial sector, 2.4% in the construction sector and 0.6% in the trade-services sector.

The data revealed a rapid upward trend in employment, especially in the construction sector, while the annual decline in the industrial sector was noteworthy.
